Open beta
For joining the public beta you just need to modify your freelancer.ini in your EXE folder.
You’ll find the following line:
hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
Replace that line with the following lines:
;hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com ; GUN server in Redmond (DNS entry)
hostname = gun.fllistserver.com
This works for servers and clients. Feel free to add your server.
Known issues till now:
- The “update” button won’t work
- You won’t get a list after leaving a server
Feel free to report any bugs etc.

It should support all kind of symbols. Just try it

Check your freelancer.ini and be sure that your software firewall/router firewall don’t block it.

It will work for dynamic IPs as it worked with the original GLS. You will loose the connection after getting a new IP but it will simply reconnect after some seconds/minutes.

Usually it automatically assigns Notepad to open it, but any text editor will do it. Strange though…

Crazy, it might be better to post a message that this is still a beta test, you need to let ppl know that this is still just tempory, as I’m hearing from ppl that are even changing their Freelancer.ini in their mods to the what you’ve posted.

BETA testing is something that developers do to test their program, find any kinks in it, open beta is where its open to the public to test it. the thing with this is there isnt much that can go wrong. Is this just temp?

The DNS might be as Crazy is trying to get the original one from M$, if he does get it them all of those who’ve changed their Freelancer.ini will have to change it back when it stops being beta.
Unfortunately there are a lot of ppl in this community that don’t bother testing apps that are beta, they seem to think that they are the finished application and use it as such, and then b*tch when a bug is found.

Atm I don’t think I’ll change much cause it seems there are only the 2 bugs which are posted somewhere.
You can change your freelancer.ini cause when I’ll get the DNS it doesn’t matter if you got the MS DNS or mine in your freelancer.ini cause it will direct to the same IP.

notice the the fl server program looses connection to list server about every 20- 30 seconds or so then reestablishes connection repeatedly. is this one of them glitches?? heck it might have done it with the old gls its just the first time i noticed it.

There seems to be a major bug … After a time it stops saving/deleting the servers… So that we’ve got 2k servers some minutes ago.
I’ll have to watch this problem.

I keep getting the “Connectin to global server” thing, and like you said above, ive killed my firewall and my router doesnt have a firewall, ive also opened the ports for freelancer server hosting and that still hasn’t fixed it, any ideas?

I changed my .ini file and got it working last night. I couldn’t get the list back after exiting and reentering the game or restarting my computer so I restored the original .ini file, then opened the game, then closed it again and edited it back to the FLlistserver beta’s lines. But now I don’t see any games? Any suggestions or help?

the gls workaround is a seperate. Simply adding
hostname = gun.fllistserver.com
to the ini is all you need to do, i did that and its worked fine appart from when the server was down for maintinence

Crazy, is there any chance you could leave each previous version constantly running while you develop the next fix and just do a quick restart when each fix is ready? thats how i modified my .ini and its been working ok for me hope that helps. you also have to modify your mods .ini file to match otherwise when you load your mod in mod manager it will revert back to the original without the change. so change your mods .ini as well so that when you load your mod you will see the list server.
